Résumé
La mort, qui apparaît fréquemment dans l’œuvre de Serge Dalens, peut être mise en lien avec la tendance au mimétisme qui s’y observe. Ainsi prend-elle parfois la forme d’un sacrifice qui, suivant la lecture proposée par René Girard, sanctionnerait l’indifférenciation mimétique. Afin d’éviter cette issue fatale, certains textes de l’auteur proposent l’alliance comme moyen de préserver le mimétisme tout en évitant la souffrance et la mort. Cette formule ne parvient toutefois pas à déjouer durablement la mort. Il reste alors l’espérance, qui, sans renier le mimétisme et sans tenter d’éviter la mort, transcende celle-ci en en faisant une promesse de vie.

Abstract
Death appears frequently in the writings of Serge Dalens. It can be linked to the tendency to mimicry that is observed in this work: it sometimes takes the form of a sacrifice that sanctions mimetic indifferentiation, following the reading proposed by René Girard. To avoid this fatal outcome, certain texts of the author propose the alliance as a means of preserving the mimetism while avoiding suffering and death. However, this formula does not succeed in foiling death in the long term. What remains is hope, which, without denying mimicry and without trying to avoid death, transcends it by making it a promise of life.
