Résumé

Mais qu’entendons-nous par « conte d’artiste » (ou « conte artiste ») ? Cette expression, utilisée globalement comme synonyme de « conte d’auteur », peut d’abord se comprendre par référence à la riche tradition allemande du conte littéraire, le Kunstmärchen (de « Kunst », « art », « artifice »), concept théorisé au cours des XIX^e et XX^e siècles et qui eut une influence indéniable sur le développement du conte littéraire occidental.

Abstract : The artist’s tale around the world, from the 19th century to the present day: the persistence and mutations of a genre

But what do we mean by an « artist’s tale »? This expression, which is generally used as a synonym for « author’s tale », can firstly be understood by reference to the rich German tradition of literary tale, the Kunstmärchen (from « Kunst », « art », « artifice »), a concept theorised during the 19th and 20th centuries and which had an undeniable influence on the development of Western literary tale.
