Résumé
Cet article aborde le racontage historique par « l’épanchement de la vie réelle dans le songe » dans deux albums de la Grande Guerre : Histoire d’un brave petit soldat de Charlotte Schaller-Mouillot et Histoire de deux Petits Alsaciens pendant la guerre de Lisbeth Nett. La mémoire de l’Histoire contemporaine s’y écrit en hypotypose au prisme d’albums instrumentalisés à des fins cocardières et mémorielles. L’incipit du premier conte emprunte au seuil des merveilles pour plonger l’enfant dans un rêve guerrier dont il sort avec une clausule patriotique. L’excipit du second repose sur la synecdoque de « la chère Alsace » qui attend « la DÉLIVRANCE ! » L’iconotexte participe de la patrimonialisation préconisée par Albert Sarraut pour constituer une première mémoire de guerre. Il s’agit d’examiner comment il détermine une triple temporalité pour atteindre cet objectif mémoriel.

Abstract : The Picture Book as a Vessel of Memory : The Collision of Dreams and History in the Service of Jingoistic Exaltation during the Great War. A Triple Temporality for the Shaping of Young Minds.
This article aims to study how real life flows into the dream through the historical storytelling in two picture books published during the Great War : Histoire d’un brave petit soldat by Charlotte Schaller-Mouillot and Histoire de deux Petits Alsaciens pendant la guerre by Lisbeth Nett. These tales are written in hypotyposis and are instrumentalized for cockade and memorial purposes. They maintain the memory of contemporary history. The first picture book begins with a marvelous incipit and plunges the young reader into a warrior dream from which he emerges thanks to a patriotic conclusion. The end of the second picture book is based on the synecdoche of “dear Alsace” which awaits “DELIVRANCE! ” The aim is to study how the iconotext contributes to the patrimonialization recommended by Albert Sarraut to constitute a first memory of war. It is a question of analyzing how the iconotext determines a triple temporality in order to achieve this memorial goal.
