La métamorphose dans Rhinocéros d’Eugène Ionesco entre imaginaire et absurde

Résumé

Le phénomène de la métamorphose dans Rhinocéros s’exprime par la négligence de l’Etre. Parler de l’insolite dans l’œuvre d`Eugène Ionesco c’est parler de l’être non-métamorphosé. Dans la pièce, la créature Ionescienne est une créature de pensée et de langage vides. La rupture avec le monde, causée par une espèce de folie contagieuse et par un nazisme écrasant, mène à la métamorphose. Mais la métamorphose chez Ionesco est significative parce qu’elle manifeste une humanité en péril qui, et pour reprendre l’expression de Brunel, cherche refuge dans les corps d’un animal à la peau dure.

Abstract : The metamorphosis in Eugène Ionesco's Rhinoceros between the imaginary and the absurd

The phenomenon of metamorphosis in Rhinoceros is expressed by the neglect of the Being. To speak of the unusual in Eugene Ionesco’s work is to speak of the unmetamorphosed being. In the room the Ionesian creature is a creature of empty thought and language. The break with the world, caused by a kind of contagious madness and by crushing Nazism, leads to metamorphosis. But the metamorphosis in Ionesco is significant because it manifests a humanity in peril that, to use Brunel’s expression, seeks refuge in the bodies of an animal with hard skin.
